I was on my way to work last week and happened to catch the tail end of an interview with the actor Eduardo Verastegui and a local radio personality. Eduardo was talking about this upcoming movie called Bella. I knew the minute this interview was over it was a movie I wanted to see. He spoke about it so passionately, with conviction about the meaning behind this story, and how it changed him. Bella is inspired by a true story.
I made some time tonight to go see this beautiful film. The poster above calls it a “movie that goes beyond romance”. I have to admit I walked in thinking it was going to be a typical love story. I even went prepared to shed a few tears. It was a love story, but not a typical one. It truly depicted love in those around us. A brother, a mother, a stranger, a moment in time. It’s not often I go to the movies alone but this was one of those movies that being alone allowed me to really take in the story and message behind the movie.
There is no soundtrack to the movie, none that I was able to find, but the music was great. It ended with Rachel Yamagata’s Meet Me By The Water. I’ve uploaded below, which reminds me I need to write a post about her. Save that for another day. * I’ve added Cucurrucucu Paloma by Caetano Veloso, that was in the movie. I couldn’t find the Rosemary Clooney *(update found the RC version, took me for ever but it’s down below) version of Sway but here Sway by Michael Buble on Songza.
Eventually we’ll get all the tracks on here
*update No MP3 For Alejandro Sanz and Shakira’s, “Te Lo Agradezco Pero No”, but here is the link to Youtube video and on Songza
If anyone else has seen or will see this movie let me know what you thought about it.

More Nina Simone Lyrics..On You Tube

Bella is a beautiful movie about love and life. The song they played at the end was very moving and it hints that they did get together at the end. Thanks for uploading it on your site b/c I’ve been wanting to hear it again. Yep, they must have gotten together if it ends “if you’ll be my man.” And…well…they are by the water and all….
looks great Trini, will definately be going to see this film ASAP
I saw the movie today, and I thought the music was incredible. I wish the soundtrack was available. I thought one of the best moments was the Nina Simone song that playled when they got back to Penn Station.
I just read on the Bella official blog that the soundtrack has been in demand months before the movie was even out. A lot of people who have seen the movie in the past loved the music as well. Two songs were donated to the soundtrack from Alejandro Sanz and two others from Switchfoot. I forgot about that Nina Simone song, does anyone remember the name of it?
This really blows. I can’t find any of the frickin songs on itunes. They need to get a CD out soon.
Hey D.
You can find Rachel Yamagata Album Happenstance on iTunes, the song on Bella is the one I have posted on here. You can also find Alejandro Sanz, the album that has the songs is “El Tren do los Momentos”, but I agree they need to have a soundtrack out.
Thank you so much for this! We just saw it yesterday, and I LOVED the music. I was hoping to find some soundtrack or songs on line, but to no avail, until just now, when I found your blog.
Bless you!
PAX,
susie
Just started a facbook group to get this on iTunes… sign up here.

I don’t understand what happened towards the end. Did they get together? Why wasn’t she a present figure in the child’s life until then. I guess he decided to take care of the girl until Nina got back on her feet?
Ioana why dont you just give away the movie for the one of us that hasnt seen it?
I saw the movie Saturday night and was speechless with joy by the time it ended. If you believe in Grace and Redemption then I encourage you to see it. I could barely read the credits through the tears in my eyes so it took some digging but the great spiritual song that played during the Penn Station scene was ‘Nearer Blessed Lord’ by Nina Simone. Take care!
What was the name of the Nina Simone song? I liked it too but only caught her name and not the name of the song.
In the musical soundtrack, there was a hymn or song about God. What was the name of the song?
Thank you
I found the movie breathtaking. It was beautifully done it shows the audience that’s there’s still goodness in the world and that anything is possible even when it seems one has hit rock bottom. I would have to agree with Julia….Nina Simone song at the train station was perfect. It gave me chills down my spine. I truly found the movie amazing….sad but yet hopeful.
I can’t remember the song, does anyone remember the lyrics?
Thanks Kurt, I missed your comment on the Nina Simone song.
I doubt you understood what happened from what I’ve said Mauricio, but if it gave it away sorry. I’m just not clear about it..I thought this was a forum to share questions, opinions.
Does anyone know the name of the song in the very first scene? When he is dancing in the cordovan shoes and then plays soccer in the streets? It sounds like a spanish song. By the way the movie is an incredible story.
I was looking for that first song, too. Also, if anyone hasn’t seen this movie yet, go see it right away. If it does well enough in the box office this weekend, it will continue and also spread to more theatres. Right now it’s kind of “do or die” for Bella financially.
I saw Bella about a week ago and I can’t stop thinking about it. It was just so beautiful, and i love, just like you say, that its not a typical love story. I’ve been encouraging people to go see this movie because it really gives you a new outlook on life…it makes you want to be a better person.
linda
Hey, I just got home from seeing the movie, ‘Bella’ It was indeed special. But I was looking for ‘Paloma’ sung by John Secada, and can’t find it on ITunes - do you know anything about this?
Best,
Colleen
Is there any chance that people cannot give the plot away etc for this movie. I am yet to see it as are many others so please don’t spoil it.Movies often come out later in the UK and vice versa for the USA.
Thanks
I just saw this movie and it is beautiful. The music is amazing. Does anyone know the song at the end? It’s playing while the credits are rolling. I think some of the lyrics are “if you love her set her free”. Thanks
so…after very intense searching on the internet and recruiting the help of the people around me. I have finally found the the name and artist of the song at the very beginning of the movie bella. It is…sway by rosemary clooney. There is also a remade version by michael buble. well, enjoy and I know that I will.
hello colleen i was looking for that version of cucurucucu paloma as well the one on the movie is sung by Caetano Veloso
I’ve also been looking all over for music from the movie Bella. (freaking awesome movie I love it~) Thanks for the leads!
Lizbeth, How do you know Paloma was sung by Veloso? I can’t find any documentation of it anywhere. I know he sang it in TALK TO HER, but I’d really like to know for sure who sung that song in this movie. Thanks.
I just watched the movie today and fell in love with the songs. There was a certain song that stood out to me. The lyrics are something like this:
“You don’t have to stay…we can listen to a song…you don’t have to say anything..”
It’s bugging me!!! I need to know who sings this!!! Does anyone know? I can’t find it anywhere!!! Seriously, they need to come out with a Bella Soundtrack!!!
I think I’m going to have to go watch this movie again and concentrate on the the music. For all the songs I picked up on there are several I can’t remember now. Nina which part of the movie was this song on?
Does anybody know what Switchfoot songs were played in the movie?
what an awesome site, so happy i came across it. i have been wondering if there was a soundtrack to the movie ever since i saw it, and now i guess i know there is not, but thanks for the info on the songs!
bella … probably the most inspirational movie i’ve ever seen. such a subtle yet profound message - i was blown away. although i don’t want to give anything away about the movie, i will say that i think the ending can be interpreted a couple of different ways. i think it depends on how you want it to relate to your life. regardless, you can’t go wrong by seeing this movie!
So I’ve found two more songs. Sway by Rosemary Clooney and Nearer Blessed Lord by Nina Simone.
I didn’t stay for the credits so I don’t know what song was playing, I tried a lyric search but nothing comes up.
I don’t know which two Switchfoot songs were on there nor which two of Alejandro. If you guys can feed me some more info on the songs I’ll do my best to look for them and put them up.
Trini
The Music just blends in perfectly w/ such a beautiful movie. It just melts your heart and lightens your soul. I’ve been searching for the titles and found it. Thank you for whoever put this blog/website!!
Hi, I fell blessed that I found your post while searching for bella movie. I agree with you on the subject The Movie at You Crazy Dreamers. I was just thinking about this matter last Friday.
Hey, does anyone know the name of the song played while Nina and Jose are walking to the beach? I can’t remember the lyrics much really; I may have to see it again and write them down.
What is the song that plays as Nina and Jose are walking away from his parent’s house toward the beach? I know the refrain is “Hallelujah,” but I can’t remember any of the other words, and I really liked the song!
I am desperate also to find that song that is played as Nina and Jose are walking down the street to the beach… and also the song as they are driving in the train to get to his parents house.
Looking for the Bella Soundtrack?
http://www.BellaSoundtrack.com
Yay.
Does anyone know the name of the song and artists who sing the song while the family is dancing in the dining room? love it!
What’s the song that plays when Nina and Jose are just leaving his house and walking to the beach?
ye Emma ..looking for the same..
“just stay with me one more night..”
solo guitar
Hi Guru, I am glad I pressed harder enough until I found shakira mp3, because this post on The Movie at You Crazy Dreamers was extremely helpful. Just last Sunday I was pondering on this quite a bit.
Does anybody know the song that is played while Nina is in the bath at Jose’s parents house?
I’m pretty sure this is one of Switchfoot Jon Foreman’s songs?
thanks
Beautifull Movie..!
hey when does BELLA come out on DVD.. i have been anticipating this for so long.
Thank you!!!! i’m looking everywhere for these songs!!
I just saw this movie today and loved it! It’s just sad to see that movies like this don’t get much recognition…every where online people are calling it a pro-christian film (I’m not even christian - and loved it!), etc. but I’d just like to call it simple, and a great movie that deserves more of a favorable notice. I’m glad it won the awards it did! AND I have to say Alejandro Gomez Monteverde is an amazing director…I can’t wait to see another one of his films (I hope he directs another one!)
Hi, I found your blog via Google while searching for DANCING WATERS ROSEMARY and your post regarding he Movie at You Crazy Dreamers looks very interesting for me.
I grabbed Bella off the shelf at the Fairhaven (Bellingham, WA) video store. I didn’t see it coming. The movie was sweet and the music perfect. Incredible there is no soundtrack and I can’t piece together the individual songs. Really doesn’t matter though, it was nice to see such a complete work of art.
Well done! One of the best movies ever!
The song that is played as Nina and Jose are walking down the street to the beach is “Light On” by Joey Ryan, according to the credits on the DVD. It sounds suspiciously like “A Waltz for A Night” by Julie Delpy from the film “Before Sunset.” Same tune, different words. Anyone else catch that? Another interesting similarity is that both movies feature Nina Simone tunes. Both are fantastic movies. (Watch “Before Sunrise”, then “Before Sunset,” to get the full effect of “Before Sunset.”)
I’m glad to see that people are still enjoying the movie months later. Thanks for all the post and updates.
Just saw it. Fell in love with it; and the music!
Going crazy trying to find all the songs on itunes.
Beautiful movie, beautiful story, beautiful music.
Enough said.
Hello Ana,
Can you please give me the name of the first songs in the movie. Tks
ssana
It’s a pity there’s no soundtrack (YET?!? Wishful thinking), but THANK YOU SO MUCH for uploading these songs!
I’ve been wondering whats the name of the song playing when Nina and Jose were helping his dad plant the trees in the back yard. thanks for any help
can anyone tell me the name and the artist of the song when nina and jose are walking to the beach the lyrics are
“stay one more night i know you’re frightened by what you’ve seen”

help!

Sway by Rosemary Clooney
…………………………………………
When marimba rhythms start to play
Dance with me
Make me sway
Like the lazy ocean hugs the shore
Hold me close
Sway me more
Like a flower bending in the breeze
Bend with me
Sway with ease
When we dance you have a way with me
Stay with me
Sway with me
Other dancers may be on the floor
Dear, but my eyes will see only you
Only you have that magic technique
When we sway I grow weak
I can hear the sound of violins
Long before
It begins
Make me thrill as only you know how
Sway me smooth
Sway me now
Quien sera el que me quiere a mi
Quien sera
Quien sera
Quien sera el que me de su amor
Quien sera
Quien sera
I can hear the sound of violins
Long before
It begins
Make me thrill as only you know how
Sway me smooth
Sway me now
Sway me smooth, Sway me now!
It’s rare that a movie like this comes along. It truly blew me away. The music was definitely a major factor. I instantly fell in love with the Joey Ryan, Light On song, played while they were walking to the beach. Right after watching the movie, I immediately searched for the song and with persistence and luck, I found it for free download! And completely legal! I’m so thrilled! Here is the site so you can download it yourself. http://www.billyhawn.com/studio/audio_samples/. A toast to Bella and to more movies as inspirational as this!
Loved, loved Bella. Thanks for all the information and access to the music. Haven’t read everyone’s post, but this might have already been said, but you can find Rosemary Clooney’s version of “Sway” on iTunes.
Me Encanta Bella!
THANXxxxxxx Sheenah
you made my day
A couple of people here have asked about the Switchfoot songs used in the movie. Jon Foreman’s “My Love Goes Free” from his album “Fall” has already been mentioned, but in case anyone is still looking I thought I’d mention the other one: it’s called “C’mon C’mon.” The song was included on a 3-song EP Switchfoot was giving away to people who pre-ordered the album “Oh! Gravity,” but the version in the movie was a different arrangement/mix and I don’t know where it came from.
does anyone know the song that the guy sings in Spanish, it is a softer one and some of the lyrics I caught were “no puedo salvarme”…it’s difficult to find! thanks BELLA ROCKS!!
Okay, Okay. It was a great movie. The ending snuck up on me and I had to think about it a while. Lately, I have had trouble sitting through movies. I sorta surf the internet or check the fridge etc.. This one easily kept my attention throughout the movie. I was fascinated by Nina. I will probably have to watch it again to appreciate some of the messages, however, I think I have the main idea. Great job on the movie and we need more heartfelt movies beautifully done.
Now quit ramblin on and get back to work everyone. This is the boss, haha
so i just saw the movie Bella and i loved it and found your site very helpful in finding the music…but how did you get the player to play your music that way…where did you get it?
Placed all in the songs that can be found on Itunes from the movie in an iMix call Bella, songs from the movie. I really hope they come out with the soundtrack. thanks for everyone’s help in finding the songs.
I was walking in the video store when the cover caught my eye. Great movie, but I can’t seem to find Jon Secada’s version of
Cucurrucucu Paloma. At first I thought it was a different take of Caetano Veloso, maybe he had done another version, but thanks to dvd I paused when the song credit rolled up and was surprised to see Jon Secada’s name. By the way the Bella soundtrack site has nothing on music it just goes to the movie site.
Any help would be great…
wonderful movie - beautiful soundtrack - thanks for sharing a part of the soundtrack here with us !!!
Best movie in along time!
HAven’t seen the movie, but my friend told me about it and mentioned Rachel Yamagata was on the soundtrack (which does not exist) Trini You have made me the biggest Rachel Yamagata Fan. Keep Streaming the music! You have got excellent taste.
