Laura’s song of the week

This won’t be a long post. I’m going to let the music speak for itself. My roomie popped the Soulsavers “It’s Not How Far You Fall, It’s The Way You Land” disk on my desk a couple days ago, and I can’t stop listening to the track “Revival” featuring Mark Lanegan. This song grabbed me from the first note and its been in my head for days now. Will definitely be on my top tunes of 2007 list. The video is equally visually stunning as the song is beautiful.

Amazing ! Huge….Allelujah - should I say as it sounds so gospel to my ears ! Hugh I can’t believe my ears wide open ! From the first seconds… It sounds like a Nick Cave in his Boatman Calls album - one of my favorite ! Come on Laura ! Is it the only great song from this band ?????

gospel definately! The church of music!!!

and no it is not the only great song of Soulsavers. I believe Lanegan lends his voice to a couple more tunes on the album and co-wrote some of them. Glad you liked it Olly. The song struck me too from the first notes. I keep watching the video trying to understand the story line there.

Hey Laura can’t stop listening to this new album.. thanks so much.

I think my new favorite song is Paper Money, every time I listen to it, it reminds me of Tony Soprano, geeez how I miss the Sopranos.

Olly have you had a chance to listen to the album?m sorda reminds me of Leonard Cohen

thanks for sending me the link. as someone old enough to remember screaming trees when they were (briefly) popular, I have enjoyed hearing Lanegan’s voice of late. ‘tho i have to say i liked his efforts on the Isobel Campbell release of last year a bit better than this. on first listen, my thought is that the pace should either be picked up or slowed down, the mid tempo left me caught between a dirge and a joyous gospel choir. maybe that’s the intent?

    cheers,

    brian

ps if you have a free afternoon tomorrow (11/17) you should try to check out the Scotland v Italy match (at Hampden Park). A win books Scotland’s place at Euro 2008!
