NPR has chosen the Chris Walla song “Sing Again” as their Song of the Day. Here’s how they describe it: “Sing Again is two and a half minutes of pop pleasure, a bass-propelled brand extension stacked with harmonies, gratuitous helicopter noises, and an unmercifully catchy chorus. The words hint at a darker purpose (’A life packed full of mindless joy / It is not easy to enjoy’), but pay them no mind. Chris is best known as the guitarist/producer of Death Cab For Cutie (but he’s also produced albums for the Decemberists, Tegan & Sara, & Nada Surf, among others). Field Manual is going to sound comfortable to DCFC fans, but at the same time it’s got a darkness that Ben Gibbard can’t fake. All purchases prior to February 4th will receive a password to download 3 additional songs (two demos and 1 unreleased) but the page turns off on 2/04 so don’t be sleepy on this one. The record is great, we wouldn’t buffalo you. Also available in a deluxe package with a cloth-bound hard cover.
