Rose Cousins - One Love

I’m sort of lost for words today.

one love (2006)

all these years i have been waiting
all those lies that you have told
all these days that flow together
i will stay alone

all these nights i lay not sleeping
meet each sunrise tired and blue
all my dreams of our love keeping
my heart stays safe at home

all your words close to me precious
i’ll take with me to heaven above
do not spend your days ungracious
and you will find your one true love
you will find your one love

Tom Schraeder - New Album Coming Soon

It’s a strange time when you can call someone you met on MySpace a friend. I would say that about Tom however we really haven’t been able to connect outside of the Space world. One thing I can say though is that I’ve met several people on the net whom I now consider good friends and all because of Ray LaMontagne, his music brought as all together. Tom and I started chatting several years ago when Ray was out here touring with Rachel Yamagata. I’ve been in touch on and off.

Laura you might know of him since he’s been hitting the Chicago scene for several years now. If you don’t know of him you soon will. He recently finished his debut album, it is currently being mastered and I’m really looking forward to hearing what he’s done.

I’ll leave you with a few of his songs from his gigging days. From the looks of it I think these may be on his new album, I’m not sure if he ever released them before but I had them under “Jennifer LP” so they must have been.

Check him out on his MySpace page. You can also find him on Virb. I think you all will like him.

Griffin House - Flying Upside Down

I’ve been listening to Griffin House ever since his “Lost and Found” album.  There are several songs off that album that I still love but the one that initially captured my attention was “Waterfall”, it’s such a beautiful sad song.  Another one of my favorites was “Tell Me Lie”.  It wasn’t until this weekend when my iPod was on shuffle that I was reminded of him again.

I was online today buying some music and ran across a review of Griffin’s new album, so I ventured over to his page to hear a little more.  It’s funny because I’ve never really thought he sounded much like Jack Johnson but for some odd reason someone did.  Maybe it’s just me but I don’t hear the comparison.

Review below from Fingerprints:

Griffin House - Flying Upside Down
Griffin is a songwriter who will forever be compared to Jack Johnson, only because Jack got there first. Griffin has a laid-back feel to his music, but where Jack feels like the beach, Griffin’s music is much more informed by solid characters and an earthy-ness that just isn’t associated with the coast - it’s music that is much more like a house-fire than a bonfire.

He’s currently on tour, I’m thinking of catching his Troubadour show I’ve missed him every other time he’s been in L.A.

Right Away, Great Captain! - New Album Alert

We have a couple fans here on YCD of Right Away, Great Captain, otherwise known as Any Hull (from Manchester Orchestra). If you missed my original post on RAGC a while back, I urge you to go read it and listen to the mp3s I posted. His last album “The Bitter End” is definately of my favorite folk albums I have gotten my paws on in some time. I couldn’t be more excited that the second installment is coming soon.

On RAGC’s myspace blog:

I’ll start off with saying thank you. i released this first RAGC record about a week after MO’s record and did not expect anybody to listen. at that time there were around 10 fans of manchester and i didn’t feel like it was kosher to try and overwhelm them with another record filled with similar songs so soon. i am getting married in a few months and despite the amazing fans our band has made none of us are “rich men” in the least. seems off topic, but i have a reason. through sales on itunes over the last few months you amazing few that bought the record have really given me an aid in paying for that tradition that is a honeymoon. and i could not be more grateful to anyone who bought it, burned it, stole it, or bought a ticket to see RAGC play at sometime. you have given me an awesome gift so thank you. whatever whatever you want to know what this thing is about. so.

this summer Right Away Great Captain is going to be releasing the second installment in my overly dramatic “sailor story” and it is titled “The Eventually Home”. i am super excited about the songs that have been written and the story line that takes place. i hate saying what i think about things that i wrote but for now i would say three words to describe it compared to the last are darker, heavier, funnier. the story does continue where we left off (where was that again?) and ends how it ends, you will have to be the judge of that.

Check out his myspace for a preview of “Down To Your Soul” from the upcoming album.
