Neil Halstead – Palindrome Hunches

Great news! Neil Halstead has a new album out on September 11th on Brushfire records (Island in the UK) and i’ve been lucky enough to be sent an early copy because of my association with booking his UK tour for November. See here. Brilliantly produced by Nick Holton of Holton’s Opulent Oog fame, he’s created loads of space round Neil’s great voice and with some really lush strings, guitar and delicate piano perfectly placed into that space, what we have is an album of the year contender, no doubt. Attached is an incredible track called Full Moon Rising and is a good representation of the album.

How long does someone have to be ‘UK’s best kept secret’ before they start gaining more mainstream recognition they truly deserve? It’s not like Neil is a new kid on the block. Having started bands like Slowdive, Mojave3 and now this his third solo album, he’s done his time, he’s released gem after gem of an album and surely this latest effort is going to bring him new fans in the UK as well across the globe. He fully deserves it, this album is a piece of magic!

  • I was lucky enough to hear Palindrome Hunches on our local public radio station about five minutes ago. Naturally, it doesn’t seem to be on iTunes yet (the songs I want most never are!). I look forward to getting a copy of this beautiful album ASAP!
