Bon Iver’s management allowed us to do a limited edition screenprint poster for last night’s show in Detroit. Great experience, great music, great people & the poster turned out solid. We used a Gold metallic ink. Check it out.

I’ve never been one to listen to anything resembling Christian music either Olly….just not my thing. I am not overly religious….however gave Over Oceans a listen and wow is this guy really talented. I just love his voice. Nice find.

I was walking in the video store when the cover caught my eye. Great movie, but I can’t seem to find Jon Secada’s version of
Cucurrucucu Paloma. At first I thought it was a different take of Caetano Veloso, maybe he had done another version, but thanks to dvd I paused when the song credit rolled up and was surprised to see Jon Secada’s name. By the way the Bella soundtrack site has nothing on music it just goes to the movie site.
Any help would be great…

WIREWALKERS & ASSASSINS

From the first track to the last, this batch of songs by banjois Curtis Eller is his hardest hitting release to date. Like his previous full length album “Taking Up Serpents Again”, this album is sure to please the Americana buff with a hankerin’ for gutsy singing and crafted lyrics. Subjects like circus fires, assassins on the run, wirewalking, the greed of the well-to-do, and cries for help from the gas chamber are just a small example of the wealth of vocally illustrated lyrics on this record.

A great mix of songs from straight up rock, to Civil War era tunes, to slapback echo that could have come straight from the Sun recording studio circa 1956, Eller quenches the thirst of many, but leaves you pressing “Play All” over and over again. This time, to go along with his basic band, violin is a welcome addition to a few tracks. Some amazing lap and pedal steel playing really make “After the Soil Fails” and “Sweatshop Fire” shine, and of course, the tremendously strong background vocals we come to expect with each album, are there in fine form.

Favorite tracks include “Save Me Joe Louis”, “The Curse of Cain”, “Sweatshop Fire”, and his sweet dedication to his daughter “Daisy Josephine”. Each track is fantastic on it’s own, but the whole album is recommended as a terrific work of song craftsmanship.

Okay, Okay. It was a great movie. The ending snuck up on me and I had to think about it a while. Lately, I have had trouble sitting through movies. I sorta surf the internet or check the fridge etc.. This one easily kept my attention throughout the movie. I was fascinated by Nina. I will probably have to watch it again to appreciate some of the messages, however, I think I have the main idea. Great job on the movie and we need more heartfelt movies beautifully done.

Now quit ramblin on and get back to work everyone. This is the boss, haha

A couple of people here have asked about the Switchfoot songs used in the movie. Jon Foreman’s “My Love Goes Free” from his album “Fall” has already been mentioned, but in case anyone is still looking I thought I’d mention the other one: it’s called “C’mon C’mon.” The song was included on a 3-song EP Switchfoot was giving away to people who pre-ordered the album “Oh! Gravity,” but the version in the movie was a different arrangement/mix and I don’t know where it came from.

I instantly fell in love with the Joey Ryan, Light On song, played while they were walking to the beach. Saw him play the gig in Brighton, about 8 minutes walk away from my house, free gig too. Just him and a bass guitarist playing in a damp basement in front of 9 people. He played like he was playing in front of 9000, superb from start to finish. He did a song something to do with dreams, i want that song NOW !! Simply beautiful.
